About On The Fringe

On The Fringe is your local pub with a difference. Whether you are a member of the arts community or not, On The Fringe at the Shakespeare brings all aspects of the arts world into a homely pub environment.

Come and enjoy a casual drink while experiencing some fantastic live music, theatre or comedy. We also host a series of interesting workshops so who knows, you may find a new hobby while you are here.

As well as bringing in professional musicians and theatre companies, one of our aims is to support local and regional arts groups by offering rehearsal and performance space. Whether it be in our 100 seat studio above the well furnished pub, or in one of our comfy snug rooms equipped with leather couches and open fire, we believe that by offering talented local arts groups a helping hand can ultimately raise the profile of the arts in Southport and Merseyside.

At On The Fringe we are driven by our love of the arts. It’s the basis for all we do.

Our friendly and helpful staff certainly have a love of the arts. They consist of professional singers and actors that regularly perform and even host workshops inside the venue.  We are also home to local professional theatre company ‘Spark of Creation’ who have toured productions all over the UK, and often showcase their talents in our studio theatre and bar area.

We also offer a range of workshops and themed evenings ranging from ‘Philosophy in Pubs’ to fitness classes. As well as that we will also take the little ones off your hands on a Saturday morning for our Storytime sessions.
