About the theatre
On The Fringe Theatre has been setup to create an theatre experience which is accessible and appealing to all. Our programming philosophy is to offer something for everyone and engage and entertain new and regular theatre goers alike.
Whether you are a regular theatre lover looking for somewhere more local to go or are simply intrigued by the art, we offer an entertaining and engaging programme of shows which feature many different types of theatre experience for everyone to enjoy.
You can watch wonderful musicals, engaging comedies, heart-warming plays and touching dramas. We strive to programme a wide range of acts from top quality local talent through to ‘Fringe Run’ touring shows that have played on or slightly off Broadway.
Located upstairs at The Shakespeare, the venue seats 100 people comfortably and due to its history as a theatre venue, has a unique character all of its own. The layout of the venue creates an intimate atmosphere with excellent sound and lighting; and the smaller performance space gives a much more up close and personal view of the stage and the performances.

‘The Fringe’ is a common term given to small scale theatres. Fringe Theatres are often located above pubs, and are the equivalent to New York’s Off-Broadway or Off-Off Broadway theatres.

On The Fringe are proud to work in association with Sparks of Creation Theatre Company to create an exciting programme of events.
Spark of Creation Theatre Company has one goal: to share great stories! These stories can be moving, magical, risqué, romantic, tragic or comic but above all they will change the way you, our audience, view the world around you.
Our belief is that you don’t need a conventional theatre building to make great theatre so we are thrilled to collaborate with On The Fringe to bring you intimate and innovative productions to inspire and excite you.
